The University of Michigan Law School’s 2016 Bergstrom Child Welfare Law Summer Fellowship is now taking applications. Bergstrom Fellows are brought to Ann Arbor, MI for three days of training (May 11-13, 2016) both to learn the basic legal framework of child protection and foster care, and to hear interdisciplinary perspectives from experts in various fields, including child development, child sexual abuse, and drug addiction. Students then work for ten weeks in child welfare law offices throughout the nation, such as non-profit organizations, legal services offices, government agencies, and more (click here for a sampling of past placements). Interested students can learn more about the program and download the application here.
The 2016 application is due March 15, 2016. Students in their 1L and 2L years may apply.
CAP directors Elizabeth Bartholet and Cheryl Bratt have close ties to the Bergstrom Fellowship and would be happy to advise interested students.
